To prepare the frosting, add 10 Oreos to your food processor and blitz until fine crumbs. Set oreo crumbs aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter on medium speed until smooth.
Step 6: Add the powdered sugar
Add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing in between each addition. The frosting will still be powdery.

🥄 Equipment
Here is a list of equipment that you need to make these Oreo Cupcakes.
- large bowl
- medium bowl
- measuring cup and spoon
- cupcake pan
- cupcake liners
- hand mixer or stand mixer
- piping bag
- food processor or rolling pin and storage bag
🥫 Storage
Store the Oreo cupcakes in a cool dry place for up to five days.
Because of the butter in the frosting of these cupcakes, I do not recommend that you leave them outside for a party. The frosting will melt in the heat.
💭 Tips
- Be careful to not overmix the oreo cupcake batter, over mixing cupcake batter can cause it to become tough.
- You want to make sure that the cookie crumbs for your frosting are ground finely.
- Make sure that the butter and milk for your frosting are at room temperature so that your frosting turns out light and fluffy.
- There are two ways to check the cupcakes for doneness, press a finger on top of the cupcake and if it springs back it is done. You can also use a toothpick to check for doneness if it comes out clean then the Oreo cupcakes are done.
- For a fun twist, try dipping the top of the cupcake in melted chocolate.
- If you want to decorate these Oreo cupcakes for a special occasion you can pipe on some frosting and then add some edible decorations like these edible gold stars.
- I recommend that you fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 the way full so that you get evenly baked cupcakes.
- If you don’t have a food processor you make crushed Oreos with a storage bag and a rolling pin. Though, it will take some effort to make sure that they are completely crushed so that they don’t clog the piping bag.
- When creaming the butter and sugar for the frosting, you don’t have to worry about overmixing, so feel free to mix as much as needed.
