Equipment

Storage

Storage – Store leftover cheese bread in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. You can also store it in the fridge in a freezer bag for 3-4 days.

Freezing – Another great thing about homemade bread is that it can be frozen. Store it in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to three months. Thaw on the counter for a couple of hours.

Test Kitchen Tips

  • For this recipe, you want to use warm water not hot water. Your water should be between 100-110 degrees f.
  • This will make a 1 1/2-pound loaf, so make sure that you select that setting on your bread machine.
  • I used the white bread setting for this bread recipe.

FAQ

How should I add the cheese to my bread machine cheese bread?

It’s best to shred or grate the cheese and add it to the bread machine along with the rest of the ingredients. Avoid using large chunks of cheese as they might distribute unevenly in the bread. Mixing the grated cheese into the dough ensures a consistent distribution of cheesy goodness throughout the loaf.

Can I make cheese bread without a bread machine?

Yes, if you don’t have a bread machine, you can still make cheese bread. Simply follow a standard bread recipe, but incorporate shredded cheese into the dough during the kneading process by hand. Allow the dough to rise, shape it into a loaf, then bake in a preheated oven according to the recipe instructions.

What is the ideal setting on the bread machine for cheese bread?

Most bread machines have a basic or white bread setting that works well for making cheese bread. Choose the appropriate crust color and size options based on your preferences. The bread machine will take care of the kneading, rising, and baking processes, resulting in a perfectly baked loaf.
