Reheating – To reheat leftovers, place a serving of casserole on a microwaveable plate and microwave on high for 1-2 minutes until heated through. You can reheat the casserole in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
Freezing – If you want to freeze your garlic bread casserole, let it cool to room temperature, then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil. Label the package with the date and contents, then freeze it for up to 3 months.
Pro Tips
- Use good-quality bread: Choose a sturdy loaf of bread, like a French or Italian loaf, that can hold up to being cubed and soaked in the egg and cream mixture. Stale bread works well too, as it will absorb more of the liquid. Or use regular old frozen garlic bread!
- Add extra cheese on top: For a crispy and gooey finish, sprinkle some extra shredded cheese over the top of the casserole before baking. This will help create a golden brown and cheesy crust that everyone will love.
- Don’t overcook the casserole: Keep a close eye on the casserole as it bakes, and remove it from the oven as soon as it’s set and golden brown. Overcooking can lead to a dry and tough casserole.
- Add extra herbs and spices for extra flavor: Don’t be afraid to play around with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor of your garlic bread casserole. Experiment with fresh herbs like basil or oregano, or spices like red pepper flakes or paprika to give your casserole an extra kick.
- Add pepperoni slices: Place pepperoni slices on top of the buttery garlic bread slices before you bake it for a nice twist.
FAQ
Do you have questions about this recipe? Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions for this recipe.
Toast it on the grill. If you have a grill, try toasting the garlic bread on the grill instead of in the oven. This will add a smoky flavor and char to the bread, making it even more delicious
Garlic bread typically refers to a loaf of bread that has been sliced lengthwise and spread with butter or margarine that has been mixed with garlic and sometimes other seasonings like parsley or oregano. The bread is then baked in the oven until golden brown and crispy on the outside, while remaining soft and chewy on the inside.
Garlic bread is a classic accompaniment to pasta dishes like spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo, or lasagna. The garlic and butter flavors complement the rich and savory flavors of the pasta and sauce. Garlic bread is also great to serve with soup, such as tomato soup or minestrone. The bread provides a nice crunchy texture to go with the smooth soup, and the garlic flavor adds an extra layer of deliciousness.
