Instructions
This is a quick overview of the instructions to make this recipe. You can find the full steps in the recipe card.
Make the patties and set them into a baking dish. Then cook the onions and mushrooms in a skillet. Add the flour.
Slowly whisk in beef broth, soy sauce, and seasonings and stir until thickened.
Pour the gravy over the top of the burger steaks.
Then bake in a 375-degree preheated oven covered with foil for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil in the last 5 minutes of baking.
Hint: For the best results, I like to use 80/20 ground chuck for this recipe. However, you can use any type of ground beef that you have on hand.
Storage
Storage – Store leftover hamburger steaks in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheating – I’ve found the best way to reheat the steaks are in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or the single servings in a skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side. You can also reheat in the microwave.
Wendy’s Test Kitchen Tips
- Don’t overmix the ground beef mixture, you want to handle it as little as possible so that the patties will stick together.
- I like to spray my casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray so that it cleans up easily.
- I’ve found that reheating in the oven or skillet is the best way, however, the microwave will also work.
FAQs
Premade patties will not have the eggs and breadcrumbs added to them, however, if a pinch you can use them and season the outside of them,
