Frequently Asked Questions About Slow Cooker Turkey Noodle Soup?

Can I use leftover turkey for this soup recipe?

Yes! You can certainly use leftover soup for this recipe. However, you will want to cut the cook time down to about 2 hours. You only need to cook the carrots and onions and warm your leftover turkey and allow the flavor to soak in a bit, and then you can add your noodles.

How do I make homemade bone broth?

Every time I have a carcass from beef, chicken or turkey I always turn it into bone broth. If you want to make homemade bone broth here is the recipe that I use when I make mine.  To make a bone broth in your slow cooker all you need to do is place all of these ingredients in your slow cooker and allow it to cook for at least 12 hours hours. I normally prefer to cook mine for about 18 hours but 12 is the minimum that you need. You can also make your bone broth on the stove by bringing the ingredients to a boil and then turning down to simmer and allowing to simmer for at least 6 hours. I like to cook mine longer for a deeper flavor but six hours is the least amount of time.

1 lb bones from the meat you want to use. Beef, Chicken or Turkey.f The more bones, the better.

2 cups celery stalks cut into large pieces

1 cup carrots cut into large pieces

One onion quartered

Fresh thyme  –  i use two or three sprigs

salt/pepper to taste

8 cups water

Can I freeze Slow Cooker Turkey Noodle Soup

Yes! You can absolutely freeze turkey noodle soup. However, in my personal opinion I don’t like freezing noodles as they tend to get a little mushy when thawed.  So, when I am freezing my turkey noodle soup I freeze it right before I need to add the noodles. Then I thaw in the fridge overnight and I add it to a pot or back to my slow cooker and heat the soup and add in the noodles.  That way I have fresh noodles that are not mushy.  If you don’t mind the texture change you can freeze your soup with the noodles in it. My family is just weird about food textures.
