This recipe is perfect for fall. I don’t know about you but nothing says fall to me more than apples and pumpkins. Each year in the late fall we take a family trip to an apple orchard. This easy apple dumplings recipe is one of the ways that I use up the apples that we pick!

Easy apple recipes are one of my top favorite fall recipes to make. If I’m not making an apple crescent roll dessert, then you can beat that I’m making this caramel apple dip that is so delicious!

Instant Pot Apple Dumplings

Instead of making these easy apple dumplings with canned biscuits, I decided to make them with crescent rolls. And, I am so glad that I did. The crescent rolls are ooey and gooey and really bring out the sweet apple flavor in this dessert recipe.

To make these easy Instant Pot apple dumplings you only need these eight simple ingredients. All of these ingredients are budget-friendly and easy to find at your local grocery store.

This family-friendly apple dumpling recipe comes together in just a few easy steps and in about 30 minutes.

Turn your instant pot on sauté mode. While that heats up, layout a flat surface to prepare your dumplings. On a flat surface, layout one of the perforated triangles from the crescent rolls. Using one large apple slice, or two small apple slices, lay them on the long side of the crescent roll. Roll until the end of the triangle is tucked away. Repeat until every dumpling is rolled.

Add to your instant pot your butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mixed together until everything is well incorporated and your butter is melted. Add each dumpling to your instant pot nestled in the butter and sugar mixture.

Evenly distribute your apple cider to the instant pot by pouring it a little bit at a time on the sides of the pot. Do not pour directly over the dumplings. Pressure cook on high for 10 minutes. Close the ceiling valve by making sure it’s pushed away from you.

Once your instant pot has finished and the timer is done, allow it to naturally release and wait until the pin has dropped. This can take about 15 to 20 minutes. Allowed to cool for a few minutes, and then transfer to your serving dish or plate. Top with ice cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream, or as is.

Hint: You can use any size pressure cooker to make this recipe. I used a 6 quart Instant Pot brand.

Store leftover dumplings in the fridge for up to three days. You can even freeze the leftovers for up to three months.

Use any type of apples that you have on hand that are crisp. I like to use gala, pink ladies, even granny smith apples work well. Use the apples that you have on hand for this delicious fall dessert.

How should I reheat apple dumplings?

Reheat your leftover apple dumplings in the air fryer or oven. If using the air fryer reheat at 350 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes. If you using the oven reheat at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

Can I make these in the oven instead?

Yes! Prepare your dumplings as directed. Then add your sauce to an oven-safe glass or ceramic baking side. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes or until the crescent rolls are no longer doughy.

Can I make these apple dumplings ahead?

Technically yes you can. However, these dumplings really taste best fresh so I recommend making them when you are ready to eat them.

  • 1 large apple cored peeled and cut into 8 wedges, or 2 small apples cored, peeled, and cut into 16 wedges
