Pro Tips
- Don’t overcook the marshmallows: When melting the marshmallows and butter, be sure to stir frequently and take them off the heat as soon as they are melted and smooth. Overcooking them can result in tough and chewy treats.
- Use fresh Rice Krispies: Fresh Rice Krispies will yield the best texture in your treats. If your cereal has been sitting in the pantry for a long time, it may be stale and affect the texture of your treats.
- Add the M&Ms last: After mixing in the Rice Krispies, wait a minute or two before stirring in the M&Ms. This will prevent them from melting and losing their color.
- Press them firmly: To avoid ending up with crumbly and falling apart treats, press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan using a sheet of wax paper or lightly greased hands.
