- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 15 ounces chili beans drained
- 15 ounces diced tomatoes
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 32 ounces frozen tater tots
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
Stir in chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
In a 9x13 baking dish, spread the chili mixture evenly. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the cheese. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until tater tots are golden and crispy.
Remove from oven, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and let it melt for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Optional: Top with sour cream, sliced green onions, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
