Ingredients

  • 4 apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 4 pears peeled, cored, and chopped
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine the apples, pears, and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the fruit is very soft.
  • Mash the fruit with a potato masher or blend with an immersion blender until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
