- 4 apples peeled, cored, and chopped
- 4 pears peeled, cored, and chopped
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
In a large saucepan, combine the apples, pears, and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the fruit is very soft.
Mash the fruit with a potato masher or blend with an immersion blender until you reach your desired consistency.
Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
