Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 4 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 cups blackberries
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 2.5 quarts round dish and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, blackberries, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  • Toss until the fruit is evenly coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping.
  • Add the cold cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly, and the topping is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy!
