The Perfect Lavender Margarita

This Lavender Margarita is a refreshing floral twist on the classic cocktail. Ingredients

For the Lavender Syrup

  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon culinary lavender buds

For the Lavender Margarita

  • 3 ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ½ ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce homemade lavender syrup
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • Coarse salt or coarse sugar for rimming the glasses
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Fresh lavender sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water and coconut sugar over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  • Stir in the culinary lavender buds and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to steep for 10 minutes.
  • Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the lavender buds. Let it cool completely before using. Store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of each serving glass.

  • Dip the rims into coarse salt or coarse sugar until evenly coated. Fill the glasses with fresh ice and set aside.

  • Add the tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, and 1 ounce of the lavender syrup.
  • Shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the cocktail is well chilled.
  • Strain the margarita into the prepared glasses over fresh ice.
  • Garnish each drink with a lime wedge and a fresh lavender sprig before serving.

Notes

  • Use culinary-grade lavender only.
  • Adjust the amount of lavender syrup to make the cocktail sweeter or more floral.
