Turn baked gingerbread men into reindeer gingerbread cookies with chocolate-covered pretzel antlers, candy eyes, and red candy noses.
Prep Time20 minutes
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: 12 cookies
Author: Wendy

Equipment

  • Flat work surface or tray
  • Parchment Paper
  • Small spoon or piping bag for the icing

Ingredients

  • 12 baked gingerbread man cookies homemade or store-bought
  • royal icing homemade or store-bought
  • 24 small chocolate-covered pretzels
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 12 red strawberry candies or other small red candies

Instructions

  • Arrange the baked gingerbread man cookies upside down on a flat surface, with the heads at the bottom and legs at the top.
  • Attach two candy eyes to the center of each cookie, above where the arms meet.
  • Attach one red candy to the head at the bottom of each cookie for the nose.
  • Use royal icing to attach two chocolate-covered pretzels to the top legs of each cookie for antlers.
  • Let the icing set completely before serving or packaging.

Notes

The 20-minute prep time covers decorating only. Baking time for homemade cookies and icing setting time are separate. Use thicker royal icing to help the decorations stay in place. Work on a few cookies at a time so the icing doesn’t dry before the candies are attached. Red gumdrops, M&Ms, or jelly beans can replace the strawberry candies.
