Instant Pot Carne Asada

This Instant Pot Carne Asada is tender strips of beef marinated in a Mexican-inspired seasoning. It's a great way to add some flavor to dinner!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank or skirt steak thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil optional
  • Fresh cilantro chopped (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, orange juice, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  • Place the sliced steak in a resealable plastic bag or casserole dish and pour the marinade over the meat. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  • Optional: Select the "Sauté" function on the Instant Pot. Heat vegetable oil and add marinated steak in batches to the Instant Pot and brown slightly. After browning the steak, add about 2 tablespoons of water to the Instant Pot and scrape the bottom to remove any cooked-on pieces.
  • Return all of the steak and remaining marinade to the Instant Pot.
  • Secure the lid, set the Instant Pot to "Pressure Cook" on high, and cook for 10 minutes. Once done, perform a quick release of pressure.
  • Serve the Instant Pot Carne Asada over rice, in tacos, or with your favorite accompaniments.
  • Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges.
