Equipment

  • Large oven safe skillet
  • Paper towels
  • small mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • tongs
  • instant read meat thermometer
  • measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts about 2 pounds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with the salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large oven safe skillet over medium high heat.
  • Add the chicken and sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
  • While the chicken sears, whisk the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, garlic, apple cider vinegar, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  • Pour the maple mixture over the chicken. Turn each piece with tongs so it is coated evenly.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the chicken reaches 165 degrees F on an instant read thermometer.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes.
  • Spoon the thickened maple glaze from the pan over the chicken and serve.
