Dr. Seuss The Lorax Cupcakes

These Dr. Seuss The Lorax Cupcakes are so simple to make.  They don’t take a lot of your time and effort.  With Dr. Seuss’s birthday around the corner I thought now was the perfect time to post these delicious and easy cupcakes.  Dr. Seuss’s birthday is March 2nd and these The Lorax Cupcakes are perfect for a class party or to just to make for your family!

I remember when my daughter was in her Dr. Seuss phase.  She wanted Dr. Seuss everything.   So, I pulled out these Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax cupcakes and made them for her birthday!  She loved eating the mustache’s off the top of the cupcakes.  And, this was one of the easiest parties to put together and since the cupcakes didn’t require a lot of time or ingredients this helped keep this party budget friendly!  When I’m planning a party for my girl I want to make sure that it’s everything she wants but I also do my best to keep the costs to a minimum.

There is just something magical about reading Dr. Seuss books.  His books takes  us on adventures that are just magical.  It’s no wonder why our children love to read them.  As a parent I am so thankfully that his books can inspire so many children to develop a love of reading.  To me the best author is one that can capture their audience and keep them interested, and Dr. Seuss definitely keeps our children coming back over and over again.

Can I tell you a secret?  Before we started on our homeschool journey I was always room mom for my daughter’s classes.  But, I am not a Pinterest mom.  I’m more of the last minute in a hectic frenzy trying to find something to take kind of mom.  And, these Dr. Seuss The Lorax cupcakes are so easy that they fit that last minute chaos.  It only takes a couple hours, and most of that time is spent allowing the chocolate to harden.

Melt chocolate according to package directions. Remember to stir the melting chocolate often to keep it smooth.  Spoon melted chocolate into the mustache mold and tap on the counter to get out any air bubbles. When you are tapping the air bubbles out, you will want to tap gently.  Let harden for about an hour.  These would be great made the day ahead or even a couple days ahead and just store them in a storage bag. Pop out and continue to make as many as you need.

If you have a mustache pop mold like I do, then don’t fill the stick portion all the way with your melted chocolate disks.  I do make sure that I fill them with a small amount so that I have a little stick to push into the cupcakes.   If you don’t have a mustache mold I’ve found one for you on Amazon.

I prefer orange food gel coloring to add to the frosting.  However, the liquid will work just fine also.   You will want 3 – 4 drops of the orange food coloring to mix into your white or vanilla frosting.  The hardest part of making the frosting is trying to keep yourself from eating it! I don’t know about you, but I’m always so tempted to just get a spoon and eat a spoonful of the frosting!  The cupcake is just a vessel to get the frosting to my mouth.

These Dr. Seuss The Lorax Cupcakes are perfect for Dr. Seuss’s birthday or a themed birthday party.  Your Dr. Seuss lover is bound to enjoy these cupcakes, and they will get a thrill from eating the mustaches off the top.  Not only are these cute but they are simple and budget friendly!
