Equipment

  • measuring cups and spoons
  • Large bowl
  • stand mixer and dough hook
  • cutting board - optional
  • Air Fryer
  • Cooking Spray
  • pastry brush or silicone brush
  • tongs

Ingredients

  • ½ cup warm water
  • ¾ teaspoon Active rise yeast
  • 1 ⅓ cup all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 2 tablespoon butter melted
  • pretzel salt
  • cooking spray for air fryer basket

Instructions

  • Mix together your warm water and yeast. Let sit for five minutes.
  • In a large bowl add your flour, salt, and sugar. After the five minutes for your water and yeast, add this to your flour mixture.
  • Using your hands, or a dough hook, knead the dough for one minute until it forms a ball.
  • Transfer the dough ball to a lightly floured flat surface such as a clean kitchen counter or cutting board. Divide the ball into eight sections.
  • Take each section and roll the dough into a long rope from 15 to 20 inches depending on the size of your hotdog.
  • Twist the rope around your hotdog four times. Pinch the ends of the rope to another piece of the pretzel rope so that your pretzel rope stays secure on the dog.
  • Spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray. Add your pretzel dog to the basket of your air fryer. It depends on the size of your air fryer how many pretzel dogs you can fit at once, just make sure to not overcrowded as the pretzel will expand.
  • Spray each pretzel dog with cooking spray lightly.
  • Cook your pretzel dogs for five – seven minutes at 390° or until lightly browned on top.
  • Once done cooking, brush with melted butter, and add pretzel salt.
  • Remove from the air fryer basket onto a serving plate and enjoy! Best served with mustard, ketchup, cheese dipping sauce, or spicy mustard! Enjoy!

Notes

The cook time listed is per batch.  Depending on how big your air fryer is you may need to make several batches.

  • Preheat your air fryer before cooking the air fry pretzel dogs. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking.
  • Make sure that the dogs are coated in oil. This will help them to get that crispy outside.
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Reheat in the air fryer or oven before serving.
If you're not going to eat all of your Air Fryer Pretzel Dogs at once, then you'll want to store them in the fridge. Just make sure that they're covered so that they don't dry out. They'll stay fresh for a few days, so you can enjoy them at your leisure.
Reheat - When you're ready to eat them, just pop them in the air fryer for a few minutes to reheat at 350 degrees or in the oven at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
