Christmas Pancakes

What says Christmas better than pancakes? These fluffy, buttery Christmas pancakes will have you in the holiday spirit in no time!

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • whisk
  • three small mixing bowls
  • medium skillet
  • food squeeze bottles
  • cookie cutters (optional but can help you draw the shape)
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 9 teaspoons baking powder
  • 9 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 9 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • Red and green food gel
  • Mini M&M’s

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and sugar.
  • Add the eggs and melted butter and mix. Slowing whisk in the milk until batter forms.
  • Divide the batter into three and mix one with a teaspoon of red gel and another with a teaspoon of green gel. Add more gel for bright colors.
  • In a medium skillet, set the heat to low medium and spray lightly with oil.
  • I like to place the batter in a food squeeze bottle for more accurate drawings.
  • Once pan is hot draw a Christmas tree or snowman or stocking with batter.
  • Top tree with m&m to make it a fun lit tree or to give the snowmen eyes.

Notes

If you don't have Christmas-themed cookie cutters, you can get creative. You can create a stencil out of cardboard and then use a butter knife to cut it out. Use a cup to help you cut out more circular shapes for pancakes shaped like a snowman. There are tons of options if you don't have cookie cutters.
You will know that the pancakes are ready to flip when you see the bubbles on the top start to sink in.
Do not use a plastic cookie cutter, you will need a metal cookie cutter to make these pancakes.
