Patriotic Blondies

Patriotic Blondies are sweet and chewy. This festive dessert is perfect for the summer holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup Red M&M’s
  • 1 cup Blue M&M’s
  • 1 cup white M&M’s
  • 2 cups Chopped Oreos
  • 1 cup chocolate chips I used Red White and Blue Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven and spray a 9x13 baking dish with pam baking spray
  • Using a hand mixer, beat together the butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg and vanilla until combined
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt until combined
  • Gradually whisk in the dry ingredients into the wet until combined
  • Fold in ¾ cup each of M&M’s and chocolate chips
  • Fold in 1 ½ C chopped oreos into the batter
  • Press the dough into the baking dish
  • Sprinkle the remaining M&M’ss, chocolate chips and chopped oreos on top
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until lightly brown
  • Remove and allow to cool completely before cutting into bars

Notes

 
Make sure that your butter is at room temperature before beginning.
You can use dark brown sugar instead.  Using dark brown sugar will give a more caramel like taste. 
If you cannot find red, white and blue chocolate chips, semi sweet, milk chocolate or while chocolate will work just fine.
