Are you looking at starting a garden for the first time? If so, get excited! Gardens are so much fun and a great experience. Starting a garden for the first time can be a bit of a challenge, but once you have it down, you’ll be good to go. Here is how to start a garden for the first time.
Make a plan for your garden
After you have been gardening for a while, you probably won’t need to make a plan for your garden. However, when you’re first starting out, you will need to make a plan for your garden. Making a plan for a garden comes down to planning where each fruit and vegetable will go.
You’re going to be watering plants, a lot
Most people think that their garden can survive on rainwater and this is not true. You’ll need more than just rainwater to keep those plants alive. When you first start the garden, the seedlings won’t need as much water. However, as your plants get bigger, you’ll need to continue watering them so they grow, grow, grow!
Start a small garden this year
The first garden you ever grow should start out small. While you may feel ambitious, this isn’t the best way to learn how to garden. I think most people discover that gardening is a lot more work than they originally thought. For starters, build a small garden and in future years, you can grow a bigger one. Think of it as a way to gain experience.
Do research and prepare to learn
There is so much you can learn about starting a garden. However, it takes time and energy to learn how to garden. While the basics are simple to understand, there is always something better you can learn. Don’t be afraid to do research and learn as much as you can. Nothing beats real life experience though. So, the more you garden, the more you will learn.
Sunshine is soooo important
When you’re trying to decide on where to put your garden, think about one thing, SUNSHINE. Some people make the mistake of putting their garden in the shade. Your garden will grow best when it has lots of sunshine.
Starting a garden for the first time will be a challenge, but you can do it. I’m curious if you’re starting your first garden this year. What tips are you going to be using?
