If you are anything like me you will find some use of this post! Cleaning is a HUGE chore to me, and something that I am always putting off to the last minute.
Often thought as a chore, cleaning can be a boring and repetitive activity. At the same time, you do not want your house to look disorganized and messy. Your only solution is to make cleaning as much fun as possible, which can be done by following these simple tips.
First, make a plan of action. Cleaning is no fun if you have to make it like a chore. Instead, make it like a mission. You can clean two or three rooms today, and then finish cleaning up the other rooms the next day. For example, you can clean all the bedrooms in one day, and all the bathrooms on another day.
If you are cleaning the living or family room, you can easily turn on the television and watch your favorite t.v. show while you are mopping the floors or dusting the shelves. If your kitchen is connected to your family room, you might be able to get a good viewing angle of your television while you are washing the dishes and cleaning the stovetop.
If you cannot see your television where you are cleaning, you can put on some music. Try to choose music that is fun, upbeat, and interesting to you. You can sing along while you are cleaning, and pretend that you aren’t even doing a chore. When you are doing something that you love, you will forget about the time.
Make cleaning a part of your day. If you are watching some television, don’t just sit on the couch. Instead, dust some shelves, vacuum the carpet, wipe down the windows, etc. When you are watching something that you like, just as if you were listening to music that you liked, you will not even think of cleaning as a dreaded chore.
Clean with the people whom you love. If you have children, ask them to clean the bathrooms. If you have a husband or wife, ask him or her to make the beds or organize the kitchen. Another good way to make cleaning a social activity is to create a “house cleaning network.” For example, if you have a friend who doesn’t work on the weekends and neither do you, you can clean your house and then go over your friend’s house to clean it. Or, you can do one house on one weekend, and another house the next weekend. As you clean, you might have something baking in the oven as a snack when you have finished cleaning.
As you can see, cleaning does not have to be painful. In fact, you can turn it into the likes of any fun, social activity by getting others involved.
