mayo, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, bacon, broccoli, sour cream, cauliflower, apple cider vinegar, red onion, and sugar on a counter.
  • broccoli florets
  • cauliflower florets
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • red onion – sweet onions can also be used, but I think that red onions are best in this salad.
  • cooked bacon – If you are using the bagged bacon bits, I like to saute them in a skillet for a few minutes to crisp them up.
  • mayonnaise – greek yogurt is a great swap for the mayo if you want to make this dish a little healthier.
  • sour cream – greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream if you want to lower the fat.
  • apple cider vinegar – white vinegar can also be used.
  • sugar – if you are watching your sugar intake, you can use your favorite granulated sweetener instead.
  • Salt and black pepper

Wendy’s Test Kitchen Tips

  • While you can technically serve this salad without blanching the vegetables first. However, softening them a little makes them taste better in my opinion.
  • You can also add other items such as sunflower seeds, pine nuts, raisins, or dried cranberries to suit your taste buds.
